23 Ideas for Web 2.0

A Summary of My Experiences Learning Web 2.0 Tools

Thing 13: 21st Century Conference

I first attended the “Getting Started Keynote: How Can I become part of this readwriteweb Revolution?” with Alice Barr, Cheryl Oakes and Bob Sprankle. It was definetly a keynote for a beginner and  the main message was to dive in and try this new Web2.0 technology – kind of a “just do it” attitude.  They  were good at emphasizing, “Do not be afraid, because you and your students are learning together.”

Thus I went a step further and attended a “Kicking it Up a Notch” session, “Connecting Classrooms Across continents: Planning and Implementing Globally Collaborative Projects” I learned quite a bit from this and would like to set up some sort of connected learning project at the high school next year.  I especially like the “Understanding By Design: model of curriculum planning”.  This model should be used in any project plan, and most of it I knew, but I liked how it was presented in this session; very clear and step by step, building on each component.

I hope I have the opportunity to come back to the K-12 Online learning conference again, since there is so much valuable material there to be accessed.  I have already marked my calendar for November 30th to attend  the Keynote to the 2009 online conference.  I think this is such a creative idea, and I am sorry I have missed the previous ones.  I am hoping I can get a few others to do the same.
